The Center of Photography in Malaga is established in March 2024.

On March 29, 2023, the first session of the "First Malaga Photographic Encounters" cycles took place at the Ateneo de Malaga, the first of six sessions that addressed the reality of the province's photographic ecosystem and the viability of a Malaga Photography Center. The lack of a project like this was so evident that that same afternoon the constitution of the Platform for the creation of the Photography Center in Malaga was unanimously approved, from which some work groups were convened to give shape to the project.

From the birth of the platform until the beginning of this year we were working on defining the basic aspects that must form the fundamental structure of the Center and the corporate image. Some of the people who put their knowledge into this stage of the project were Antonio Garcia Redondo, Elena Pedrosa, Javier Ramirez, L.Javier Muñoz Brieva (creator of the logo), Michelo Toro, Monica R. Cuenca, Pablo Ruiz, Victoria Abon, Virginia Rota and myself.

Finally, on Monday, March 18, 2024, the constitutive Assembly of the Center of Photography in Malaga took place at the Ateneo de Málaga. During the meeting, the Board of Directors that will run the center in this first stage is elected: Javier Ramirez (President), Pablo Ruiz (Secretary), Michelo Toro (Treasurer), Monica R. Cuenca (Communication Member), David Tome (Member of Activities) and Mercedes Jimenez (Research Member). The possibility of including more people both in the position of vice president and in new members is open.

Present at the constitutive assembly were, among other entities and individuals, the Spanish Confederation of Photography, the Andalusian Federation of Photography, the Malaga Photographic Society (SFM), the Antequerana Photographic Group (AFA), Aula 7, the Apertura photography school , Nuevo Enfoque Mijas, the Matagallar Photographers Association (Coin), PhotoEstepona and the Imagen Collective of Fuengirola.
